The Director, Global Loss Control will lead a team of measurement and loss control professionals (i.e. the Commercial Loss Control group) in their mission of contributing to the financial performance of Phillips 66 Company by preventing and mitigating commodity quantity & quality losses on behalf of our businesses. The scope of accountability for the Commercial Loss Control (LC) Group includes all bulk liquids (Crude Oil and other renewable/non-hydrocarbon feedstocks, Refined Products, Specialty Products, NGLs/LPGs etc.) and solids, in all modes of transportation (marine, truck, rail, pipelines, terminals). In addition, the candidate will have responsibilities to respond to requests from LC, Commercial, Phillips 66 Refining, Phillips 66 Midstream and Financial Services (e.g. inventory accounting) for LC Voyage Analysis Modules, Custody Transfer Quantity and Quality data and LC Inventory Gain/Loss and performance metrics.

Responsibilities May Include

  • Lead the Commercial Loss Control group to develop and ensure functional excellence in the following areas:

    • Provide centralized loss control support for Commercial commodity groups and operations

    • Provide Marine Cargo in-transit performance benchmarks and measures

    • Develop, implement, and oversee all Company Measurement Standards, Policies, and Practices

    • Issue, negotiate, and resolve Cargo Loss Claims on behalf of Commercial commodity groups and operations

    • Contribute to Industry Consensus Standards Development

    • Ensure robust oversight and performance of inspection service providers

    • Perform contract reviews to include appropriate measurement and loss language

    • Provide crude quality support to understand and resolve quality issues

    • Identify, support, and implement various Supply Chain & Global Logistics business transformation initiatives to deliver significant value

Required Qualifications

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 10 or more years of experience in Commercial and Downstream Commercial/Operations

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10 or more years of experience in technical Measurement and Loss Control support

  • Excellent knowledge of petroleum market fundamentals

  • Deep understanding of Commercial & Downstream operations, supply chains, and value drivers

  • Outstanding analytical & problem-solving skills, from both a technical and commercial perspective, to make recommendations and drive value-added, well-informed decisions

  • Ability to effectively lead a global team in a virtual environment

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively manage internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

  • Ability to manage conflict and facilitate resolution
