The Quantitative Risk Analyst role will provide quantitative analysis in support of modeling daily Value at Risk, physical/financial exposure, and other ad-hoc projects in support of potential commercial trading business opportunities. Additionally, the Analyst will be responsible for maintaining and improving existing analytical models, troubleshooting errors as they arise, and preparing daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly reports for Commercial leadership.
Responsibilities May Include
Provide analytical risk management support to the Commercial organization.
Support the company’s internal control environment by monitoring compliance with commercial risk policies and daily exposure limits.
Provide expert guidance on the valuation of physical and derivative instruments.
Develop ad hoc product and position analysis for evaluating commercial trading and hedging opportunities.
Build and enhance usable tools and applications for evaluating commercial activities and exposure that are not easily handled in current systems.
Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
Bachelor’s Degree in a Financial, Math, Engineering, or Science/Technical field of study
3 or more years of relevant work experience in an analytical or quantitative role
Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office
Highly developed quantitative and analytical skills
A thorough understanding of the commercial aspects of the energy industry including proficiency in understanding commodity contracts and related financial instruments
Graduate Degree (MBA/MS), or a combination of education and work experience with a strong quantitative analysis emphasis.
Previous VBA and SQL knowledge
Previous experience to Aligne, Allegro, and/or SAP S4
Excellent written and oral communication skills
The individual will have a demonstrated ability to work independently, with minimal direct supervision, and to identify and initiate analytical work aimed at driving value for the Commercial organization
High degree of ethics, personal drive, sense of urgency, and dedication to achieve team goals and objectives
