Description

The Cloud Architect role on the Enterprise Architecture team is a role which helps lead Phillips66’s technical and strategic direction in a multi cloud hybrid landscape. With ongoing programs and the drive to mature the Phillips66 digital footprint, there are abundant opportunities to lead changes.

This role will be one of several architects that will help research, define and implement tools, strategies and innovations in support of the digital transformation and long-term operational efficiencies. The primarily focus area is a designing and solutioning across the major cloud and platform providers.

You will have the opportunity to consult with numerous business and IT groups and projects on the design and implementation of key IT solutions. You will also have responsibility for oversight and guidance for the integrated design and collaborating with others to facilitate common approaches and optimized architectural synergies and standardization across projects.

The ideal candidate knows how to integrate systems, utilize various cloud providers to best leverage their capabilities to modernize applications and functions, and implement changes in a safe and efficient environment.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, a breadth of experience, and sound analytical thinking are essential for success in this position. A strong sense of ownership and a drive to improve existing systems and processes is also needed.

The ideal candidate has a passion for learning new things, ability to explain complex technologies in a simple manner to leadership audience, strong intellectual integrity and excellent communication skills.

Position can be located in Houston, TX or Bartlesville, OK.

Responsibilities May Include

  • Create and socialize strategies to reduce the level of human intervention required to operate, maintain and optimize processes and systems.

  • Lead the adoption of new cloud-based technologies to promote IT efficiency and promote the adoption of consumption-based IT services.

  • Work with IT and project teams to identify and evaluate multiple technologies and systems to provide an efficient, working, and verified context for the digital transformation, including cloud architecture, application design, digital commerce, security footprint and define IT standards.

  • Demonstrated experience in Microservices based design on containers/serverless.

  • Developing and demonstrating a broad set of technology skills in programming languages, micro service design patterns, Open Source libraries and frameworks, and technology architecture concepts.

  • Reduce IT technical debt by promotion of best practices for sustainable Application design.

  • Continually improve the enterprise architecture by consulting with project architects, promoting innovative approaches, and sharing knowledge.

  • Spearhead and host technology reviews with project teams to ensure alignment with technology strategies, consult/influence on innovation ideas, and ensure integration with other programs of work.

  • Provide technical though leadership (e.g., troubleshooting, knowledge sharing on emerging architectures).

  • Identifies automation opportunities where possible to minimize all human interventions, increase transaction speeds, and the flow of information.

  • Maintain visibility across multiple workstreams/efforts and facilitate communication and alignment across multiple working teams.

  • Assure solutions are designed to meet or exceed audit requirements and conducting design Audits.

Position Requirements

Basic/Required:

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 10 or more years of experience architecting and integrating systems

  • Experience in building and designing systems on cloud platform – AWS and/or Azure

  • Experience in application modernization and optimization in the cloud environments (6R)

  • Deep knowledge and understanding of High Availability and Disaster Recovery principles, patterns and usage

  • Experience in leading DevOps Teams and has had a strong past Development background

  • Knowledge of variety of technology areas like (Terraform, Chef, NodeJS/Angular/React,.NET Core, Java, Python, SQL/NoSQL/BigData)

  • Significant architectural experience developing enterprise level strategies and designs

  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant field of study

  • Significant and relevant Oil & Gas or technical industry experience, especially downstream

  • 3 or more years of experience in ERP, mobile/web applications, cloud migrations, data management

  • Strong/Expert knowledge of container provisioning and management (Docker/Kubernetes/Helm) a strong plus

  • HashiCorp Stack knowledge is a plus (Consul/Vault)

  • Familiarity with modern development and architecture construct
