Description
The Supervisor, Cloud Engineering - will report to the Director, Compute and Storage Services within the Digital End User Experience (DEUX) organization. The Cloud Engineering organization owns and maintains the multi-cloud (AWS, Azure) environment at Phillips 66. This role will provide leadership and strategy related to cloud engineering expertise for new solutions and enhancement of existing cloud services, as well as serve as guiding consultancy for the broader Phillips 66 organization. The role can be based in Bartlesville, OK or Houston, TX.
Responsibilities May Include
Manage demand for Cloud Engineering services through a comprehensive backlog, with roadmaps to showcase planned developments for the organization. Includes gathering requirements from Product and Business Solutions teams and assigning priority.
Meet with team members regularly and provide coaching and feedback on performance; Perform evaluations and deal effectively with staff problems and corrective actions as needed. Mentor junior team members.
Lead and champion a multi-cloud strategy. Focus areas include Infrastructure, Networking, Development, and Security.
Implement and manage initiatives within your assigned area of responsibility with accountability for results and compliance with all controls and security requirements.
Incubate and mature Kubernetes/Containers/Orchestration and transition to Operations.
Educate the organization and roll-out support system for CI/CD for new project teams.
Oversee enhanced resiliency in the cloud through analyzing architectures for multi-availability zone/multi-region deployments.
Implement and champion security for cloud, implementing designs with the ‘least privilege’ methodology.
Partner with Enterprise Architecture to enhance Automated Monitoring and Alerting for Cloud Platform (Self-Healing).
Evaluate new tools and technologies as necessary for administering cloud environments.
Drive continuous Application and Database Modernization – evolving from Infrastructure as a Service to Cloud Native technologies.
Maintain cloud operational support through daily troubleshooting, consulting with project teams on best practices, and responding to urgent/critical issues.
Drive user behavior through continuous outreach to Business Solutions teams through show-back financial reporting and reviews of resource consumption.
Position Requirements
Basic/Required:
Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
Bachelor’s degree
3 or more years of experience working in a large, global IT organization
7 or more years of experience in IT systems installation, operations, administration, and maintenance of cloud systems / virtualized servers
Strong communication, problem solving, and analytical skills are required
Strong technical team leadership and technical project management skills are required
Flexibility to balance multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment
Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing to business and senior IT leaders, architects, developers, and team members
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
AWS Solution Architect Associate/Professional or Azure Solution Architect Expert Certifications
Experience managing work tasks using Agile methodology / Kanban desired
Competent in all phases of application development and implementation, including SDLC; Hands-on experience scripting/development skills in Python, Ruby, Go, Java, etc. in a corporate environment strongly desired
Hands-on experience with: Terraform, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Kafka, GitHub, and configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, or Ansible
Experience transforming traditional infrastructure teams into cloud-first teams
Builds positive relationships across organizations that foster a strong work environment
Self-directed and self-motivated to solve problems quickly and creatively
