Description
Duties for the Boilermaker position include working on heat exchangers, towers and drums, structural steel and various other equipment associated with the petrochemical industry. This position requires a willingness to work hard, be self-motivated, dependable, and carry out work in a safe manner. The position also requires a willingness to work with others in a team environment and be able to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
Other requirements include the ability to bend, lift, climb, and perform a wide range of physical activities. Applicants must be able to use a variety of safety and personal protective equipment including but not limited to fresh air and slicker suits. Applicants must also be able to work at high elevations and/or in confined spaces with limited access. Overtime, shift work and weekend work is required at various times.

Required Qualifications
Valid in state driver’s license
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Ability to understand and carry out work direction in a safe manner
Legally authorized to work in the job posting country on a regular full-time basis without restrictions
3 years experience in a refinery or chemical plant environment
18 or more years of age
Ability to work outside in an oil refinery environment; enter and work in confined spaces; climb ladders and towers, and wear Personal Protective Equipment including fall protection and respiratory protection
Able to operate motor vehicles
Lift and transport up to 60 pounds
Climb and retrieve parts or make repairs from various heights
Preferred Qualifications
5 years of experience in a refinery or chemical plant environment
5 years experience in the boilermaker craft
The Sweeny Refinery is located in Old Ocean, Texas. Refinery facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrodesulfurization, and aromatics units, as well as access to the on-site vacuum tower and delayed coking unit, which is an asset owned by Phillips 66 Partners. Sweeny processes heavy, high-sulfur crude oil and some light, low sulfur crude oil. Domestic, Canadian and other foreign crude oil is transported by truck, pipeline, marine transportation and terminals. The refinery produces a high percentage of transportation fuels. Other products include petrochemical feedstocks, heating oil and petroleum coke. The refinery receives crude oil by pipeline and via tankers, through terminals on the Gulf Coast, including a deepwater terminal at Freeport. Refined products are distributed throughout the Midcontinent region, southeastern and eastern United States by pipeline, barge and rail car. Refined products are also exported to Latin America by waterborne cargo.
